2010 Interns

Dylan Chanthasensak
Dylan is a junior Art major with a concentration in graphic design at SUNY Plattsburgh. He was born and currently lives in Syracuse, N.Y. His interests include the outdoors, design, and technology. Aside from graphic design, Dylan enjoys expressing his artistic interests through ceramics and printmaking. His internship with CCE Onondaga includes graphic and web design, as well as providing end user technical support, and computer server maintenance. Once he graduates from SUNY Plattsburgh in Spring 2011, he plans to become a graphic designer.

Rachel Desantis
Rachel is a current junior Biology and Society major with a minor in nutrition Cornell University's College of Human Ecology. She was born and raised in Syracuse, NY and hopes to do a lot of traveling throughout her life. Rachel enjoys playing volleyball at school, listening to music, sewing, and learning new recipes for delicious plates. She continues her family's passion of gardening and love of the outdoors. At Cornell, she is a current Human Ecology Ambassador and is hoping to achieve a Master's degree in health Administration. At CCE Onondaga, Rachel is studying local food systems and sustainability efforts. After school, Rachel is planning on further pursuing her interests in global health, nutrition, and public policy.

Lydia Calderon
Lydia was a Bryant & Stratton College student, who graduated in April 2010 with an Associate of Occupational Studies in Human Resources. During her internship at CCE of Onondaga County, she dilligently assisted with restructuring efforts, board meetings, and policies, while using analytical skills.
She is originally from Viques, Puerto Rico. She moved to New York at an early age with her mother and siblings to pursue better economic opportunities. Her curiosity for danger and her passion for travel and adventure led her to enlist in the United States Navy, where she dedicated eleven years of honorable service. After continuous service to country and unforgettable voyages at sea, Lydia has returned to Central New York with aspirations to complete her educational goals and provide her daughter with a peaceful, stable, and memorable lifestyle.
Upon completion of her internship with CCE of Onondaga and aquiring her degree at Bryant & Stratton, Lydia secured a Human Resource position with OCEA.

Robert Taylor
Robert "Bob" Taylor was also a Bryant & Stratton student who graduated in April 2010 with an Associate of Occupational Studies degree in Paralegal Studies to compliment his baccalaurette degree in Humanities from McMaster University in Canada. During Bob's internship at CCE Onondaga he worked on a legal aid project for veterans and service members, conducted legal research on legal ethics in support of the project, and reviewed the Agency's volunteer and volunteer site agreements for liability issues.
Bob is a sixth generation veteran of service in the United States Army in which he served as a counterintelligence agent on missions to Germany, Haiti, and Yugoslavia. He is active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and several fraternal organizations.
Upon graduation, Bob will be working on his next degree; a Master's degree in Legal Studies from American Military University's distance education program with the goal of eventually re-entering Federal service.

After Robert's internship with CCE Onondaga ended, he started a position with Youth Advocacy Programs, Inc. of Oswego County. Robert is working with youths in imminent risk of residential placement on their academics, life skills, positive decision making, and constructive family interaction. YAP works with other human service providers to ensure future success for our clients and their families.
