CCE Onondaga, Jubilee Homes and SUNY ESF take first steps in building the Southwest Community Urban Farm
On Saturday November 20th, over 60 volunteers joined CCE Onondaga, Jubilee Homes and SUNY ESF to take the first step in building the Southwest Community Urban Farm on Bellevue Avenue.
Volunteers helped to cover the surface of former vacant city lots with wood chips, and cleaned up brush, debris and trash. The wood chips were contained with a border of filtrexx garden soxx that will later be planted with flowers. Youth from Jubilees Homes Urban Delights program will build the raised beds and begin farming.
This event was made possible with the generous support from neighbors and friends, SUNY ESF, the City of Syracuse, Filtrexx, and Onondaga County Resource Recovery Agency.
